MakeUseOf.com
I don’t exactly remember how I came across this site but it has been an invaluable resource for me. I signed up for their newsletter which sends me an email everyday and sometimes multiple times in a day. As of February 28, 2010, the site had an Alexa page rank of 2,187 which makes it a REAAALY popular site.
Just out of curiosity I went to a website appraiser and typed in MakeUseOf.com to see what it’s worth and based on it’s:
- Text Link Advertising
- Product Placements
- Affiliate Marketing
- Independent Advertising
its value was assessed at $682,000.
On another site, it was valued at over $12,000,000.! can you say “Ka-Ching!” this site used other variables to determine the site’s value.
Regardless of what these sites came up with. In my offline world of business I know one thing….CASH is KING!
But I digress, anyway….here are some things that I learned from MakeUseOf.com to make my life better.
Using Windows Live Writer to write my posts…why has this made my life easier?
Let me list the ways:
- It has the functionality of a WYSYWIG editor…which means that I don’t necessarily have to fumble with HTML programming and image uploading and all the technical stuff that I hate to do.
- The articles you write can be sync’d to your blog…which means once your done you hit publish and it does all the work for you including the uploading of formatting and images…it truly makes life easier.
- Windows Live writer is Free which is always a bonus.
Another thing I learned to do was design my logo using Photoshop. I’ve had Photoshop for awhile now and have not done much with it until I came a across a post that MakeUseOf sent me. It was a great step-by-step tutorial on how to create a logo using Photoshop. In fact, MakeUseof.com has a FREE downloadable guide on Photoshop.
